Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa means ‘to move with the breath.’ Some of the most popular yoga styles, including Ashtanga and Power Yoga, are taught in a vinyasa style – meaning the series of poses flows purposefully with the breath. The online classes in Yoga Download’s Vinyasa Flow category blend ancient wisdom across many yogic traditions to form new expressions. These classes offer more variety in their sequencing than a traditional Ashtanga class, are slower paced than a Power Yoga class, and more vigorous than an Iyengar class. This is the second class in the Everyday Flow series, a collection of audio-only practices designed for experienced yoga practitioners who are familiar with posture names, general alignment, and comfortable practicing without visual guidance.

You’ll begin with a warm-up and lunge series, then flow through one round of that series to connect breath with movement. This vinyasa class is full of flow including a Sun A, Sun B and Sun C. It's perfect for those days when you really want to move your body and flow.

You can expect to balance a little in a creative sun salutation that will warm the spine and create space in your side body preparing you for the rest of the practice.

Sun B adds in chair, twisting and opening through the hips and hamstrigs with crescent moon and 1/2 splits.

Together we build Sun C combining elements of the previous flows. You can expect a little balance (one leg tadasana), more twisting (open arm lunge twist and revolved crescent lunge) as well and turning to the back of the mat and adding on half moon and a side plank. This class has it all!

We cool things down by opening our hearts in puppy pose, rabbit and camel.

Surrender starts with deer pose as our hip opener and then we settle into savasana.

This class really is the perfect balance of yang with a touch of yin!

Before diving into our second flow, we take some time in frog pose, grounding down and opening the hips in preparation for the second half of class.

Sun B takes us into warrior 1, humble warrior and fun transition to a twisting lunge and skandasana. We'll transition to the back of the mat with horse pose and warrior 2.

Class ends with some balance and deeper twists before revisiting frog pose to see how much we've opened up.

This creative Vinyasa flow uses a rolled-up blanket, towel, or bolster to support your joints and enhance mobility. After a short meditation holding Hansi mudra, the gesture of the inner smile, we move into a supine position, exploring creative arm movements to open the shoulders and chest, and a fun core sequence using the bolster, setting the tone for the practice.

Warm up with deep flexion poses supported by props, then flow into a fun, dynamic standing sequence that builds strength, balance, and flexibility—culminating in Dancer Pose (Natarajasana). You'll move 360° around your mat, focusing on the journey rather than the pose itself.
