Most people would probably say something about being true and connected to oneself. Indeed yoga's connection to the soul is all about conscious authenticity - knowingly and purposefully being exactly ourselves. According to yoga philosophy, each of us has a soul, which is a microcosmic reflection of the soul of the universe. The ultimate goal of yoga is to achieve conscious realization of this truth, and thus to reunite with who we really are as microcosmic reflections of the eternal.

Welcome to Day 10 of the 14-Day Spring Into Strength Yoga Challenge! Wednesday, April 19th Yoga can address our need for release and relaxation as well as our need for strength. While there is a time and a season for growth, building and development, good balance requires that there also be a time and a season to put it down and let go. The good news is that we don't need to drop our yoga practice in order to drop our baggage -- quite the opposite. If we compared yoga to sculpture, we could say that yoga is less like sculpting from nothing, building the material up to the desired form, but rather more like chiseling a crude mass down by removing all that is not essential to it.

It is said that there is a kind of energetic vortex there called a Chakra (literally: wheel), and the state of this Root Chakra can determine the degree to which we feel grounded and secure in life.

Welcome to Day 8 of the 14-Day Spring Into Strength Yoga Challenge! Monday, April 17th Science has revealed lots of tips to help you meet your commitment and fulfill your goals. Putting a daily calendar reminder with notifications can help a lot; so can pleasure bundling - like only getting to have your favorite latte after finishing your daily yoga. Some people do even better with the (lighthearted) threat of punitive action - placing a bet with a friend or family member that you will practice yoga every day for the rest of the challenge can be a great motivator to keep it up. Try to find your own balance between deep commitment and taking it all lightly and in good spirits - and just keep going!
