Ashtanga Yoga

Many of today’s most popular forms of yoga trace their roots back to the Ashtanga style. Ashtanga is a part of the vinyasa tradition, steadily flowing between poses with synchronized breath. Traditionally, Ashtanga’s specific system of sequential poses means the primary, intermediate or advanced series you perform in your practice is same as the primary, intermediate or advanced series performed by yogis all over the world. Though some instructors vary the traditional sequencing with additional poses and postures, the Ashtanga style is always a great choice for yogis looking for a mentally invigorating and physically challenging class.

Feel the Burn

Pradeep Teotia

This class will warm you up, and how! Pradeep gives us a great flow with some intense long holds. Focus on the breath. You will feel the burn in your quads and glutes. Don't worry, all things - even that chair pose - will eventually end. And as always, there's some killer abdominal strengthening to top it all off - enough to make you sweat (if you weren't already!) and really feel those muscles working. Welcome home.

Life in the Balance

Pradeep Teotia

We've all had those days, when what we're yearning for in our yoga practice is to look within, to go deeper, breathe in every moment. This class is a departure from Pradeep's typical energetic vinyasa flow classes, and instead invites you to tap into your internal focus and explore the ever-elusive concept of balance.

We will move through several balance poses - if you fall out, don't get discouraged! It's all about returning to the breath. Although unique in style, this class remains at Pradeep-level intensity and will be invigorating for advanced beginners and seasoned practitioners alike.

Everyday Ashtanga

Blair Bradley

Ashtanga is the original flow practice from India. The technique of vinyasa, linking the poses together in a flowing sequence of movements timed to breath, originates with Ashtanga Yoga. This vigorous and flowing practice focuses on a set, a progressive series of postures. This class is an accessible and condensed version of the Ashtanga Primary Series, focusing on breath and concentration to help calm your mind and strengthen your body. This a full body, warming, and flowing practice that will warm and ground you.

Jeanie Manchester

Calling all lovers of Ashtanga flow and breath! This class flows from pose to pose like pearls on a necklace. This is a super meditative class with little instruction, mostly Surya Namaskar, challenging asana holds of 5 breaths, and standing poses that flow like a wave - breath by breath. We end with some seated postures, twists, foreword folds and meditation. If you want to build strength, stamina and heat, this class is for you. This sequence will warm you up for just about anything.

Toxic Twist

Pradeep Teotia

Did you overdo it a little last night? Feeling like your body is a bit out of whack? Or maybe you want a great practice to press that internal reset button and start over...again? Prepare to work hard and get the juices flowing in this detoxifying class.

Twists cleanse the kidneys and the liver. They abound in this class - in many variations - and we hold them for a long time. You will rinse out and (hopefully!) feel refreshed once it's done. Remember to drink lots of water, during and especially after this practice.

Ashtanga Primary Series Lite

Alik Brundrett

For those of you that want an Ashtanga Primary Series class, but found Alik's full-length 120 min Primary Series class too long or challenging, we made this Ashtanga Lite class just for you!

Yoga Chikitsa, the Sanskrit title for the Ashtanga Primary Series, means yoga therapy - a program that when done regularly (so the story goes) cures your ailments and purifies the physical body to make you ready for deeper yogic practice - both physical and meditative. This is a traditional style of yoga first introduced to the west by K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India. It takes its name from the 8 limbed (or ashta-anga) system outlined by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutra in 200 BC. Only one of Patanjali's limbs was concerned with the asanas (poses) and his treatise is primarily a roadmap toward meditation and enlightenment. Pattabhi Jois (and before him, his teacher Krishnamacharya) alleges that this system of asana practice is the practice of Patanjali.
