Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa means ‘to move with the breath.’ Some of the most popular yoga styles, including Ashtanga and Power Yoga, are taught in a vinyasa style – meaning the series of poses flows purposefully with the breath. The online classes in Yoga Download’s Vinyasa Flow category blend ancient wisdom across many yogic traditions to form new expressions. These classes offer more variety in their sequencing than a traditional Ashtanga class, are slower paced than a Power Yoga class, and more vigorous than an Iyengar class. Vinyasa Flow yoga is athletic in nature, combining hard work with deep relaxation to build strength, flexibility, concentration and balance.

Gorgeous Glutes

Jessica Oldfield

This class is inspired by my own journey to strengthen my glutes. For many of us, our glutes are weak and this is what can cause lower back pain, hip, knee and ankle issues. Flow through this sequence while bringing particular focus to both glute maximus and glute medius. An educational and fun class that will burn your glutes but leave you feeling energized and rejuvenated.

Dropping Back - Bend So You Don't Break

Jessica Oldfield

Perhaps one of the scariest transitions in a yoga practice is dropping back from Tadasana / Mountain Pose to Urdhva Dhanurasana / Wheel. It requires courage, control, strength and determination. In this advanced sequence, I breakdown the mechanics behind dropping back and give you some helpful tips on how to learn the transition. First though, flow through a strong sequence to prepare your body to bend.

Backbends

Denelle Numis

Backbends are some of the most provocative poses of our beloved yoga practice. Why are they so alluring to the human eye? I think it’s because we find ourselves so frequently in forward bends with poor posture. Fortunately, backbends helps us remedy those postural issues. This practice is designed to support your backbend practice. Warm up with an intentional flow and prepare to explore a few commonly practiced backbends.

Feel Alive Series: Creating Space

Elena Mironov

This series of yoga classes will help you open and invigorate the entire body, starting slow, gradually warming up and building towards a flow. This programme is a great choice if you would like to connect with your body through a slow flow and feel every cell come alive.

Class 1: Creating Space

In this session we’ll be focusing on creating space across the side body. We’ll be opening the chest, shoulders and the sides of the spine. This practice will help breathe deeper by creating more space for your lungs and heart. It is also a great choice of practice for connective tissue health as it addresses the lateral fascia lines of the body.

You’ll be needing a blanket if you have sensitive knees and an optional block for this class.

Vinyasa Yoga: Sell the Goat

Christen Bakken

Practicing yoga begins with release. We exhale to unite our breath for an inhale. We work through tension - in the body and the spirit. And when we use the mind, we can also release ideas and patterns we have "bought" that we recognize we no longer want or need. To "sell the goat" is a practice of all this. With the help of our breath, we will move through this well-rounded sequence and find a greater sense of contentment for what we already have.
