Kali: Be Unafraid of the Dark. Kali has been somewhat falsely named, The Dark One. She is known for her black tongue, a necklace of skulls, and her overall fierceness. What I find most interesting and inspiring about Kali is she comes in to clean up the dark. So many of us run away from what is dark or uncomfortable- whether that is a deep hip opener or a painful relationship in our lives. Kali does not run. She walks in, does what is necessary, and cleans it up. She literally laps up the darkness and clears the path. Can we embody this in our practice and in our lives? Would being bold, sailing in darkness, and clearing the path be a new strategy for facing our lives?

AMAZING class! Great traditional flow, but what was so amazing was the great lesson held within the practice (mixed in with some of Christen s humor, of course!)... thank you, Christen...this is exactly what i needed today!

Much less intense than a normal Christen class, was hoping for more of a workout. I was also thrown off by the super low-energy yoga model who seemed like she didn t want to be there.

Interesting that I chose this class today. I m in the darkness and I can t get out. Not yet. Waves of intense anxiety, rolling hotflashes, and insomnia are riding me through menopause. It s amazing and powerful, but I have no control over it. I have to be with it. Maybe Kali is with me too. I hope so. I hope she ll bring me to the other side of this in one piece.

I chose to practice Kali today because it was a dark day for me. I am indeed fierce but needed a lil reassurance, a push. Thank you for the nice practice. I appreciate less words and more work.

I was so excited to see some new classes from Christen! And of course, it did not disappoint. Fantastic, as is every class of hers. Don t let the slower pace of this one deceive you...I was sweating by the end!

I loved this class - I love ALL of Christen s classes. Her teaching style has not only helped me overcome some of the more difficult to reach poses, but she is SO inspiring. I feel her classes always have total balance, both physically and emotionally - even including a little humor where we all need it the most. I ve really grown into my practice more! This class in particular compliments the story of Kali, so not only are you pose focused, you are also learning new things!

I m going to be honest, this was not my favorite flow BUT it was a much needed reminder that light exists, even in darkness. Embody Kali might be my new mantra. Thank you, Christen. For giving me the class I needed.

Another fab class with Christen. Finding the difficult places to work with within the poses, slow enough to feel the intention of the practice. Untangling in the tangle and the dark and lots of repetition made it easier to focus. Thanks!!
