I ve cut short a lot of YDL classes because they were too fast paced. This might be the fastest-paced yoga class I ve ever tried, but I was able to keep up because the sun salutation is a very familiar sequence. It was definitely energetic and energizing. Three variations of sun salutations with no rest to speak of. Good cardio, plus a good lesson on the origins and intentions of Surya Namaskar!

I absolutely loved this class. Great yoga and wonderful workout.

I do agree that this class is too fast to be practiced at my normal breathing pace when streamed; however, practitioners can download it and set the playback speed. Obviously this makes the class longer but I think it’s worthwhile. I keep encouraging YDL to make playback speed an option in their steaming player.

Not my cup of tea. Far too fast moving to get into any pose safely or deeply. Ok if you just want to build heat I guess. At 61 years old I could keep up but I definitely was not having fun nor did I feel the devotional trance like state he was going for. In any case it was part of the challenge I am currently doing so I have ticked it off the list, but I won t go back to it.

I always enjoy Mark and his passion for his practice even though I don t quite follow his beliefs. This class is true to the level 3 intensity and I thank him for the swirly fires within that his classes always create within my core. However I also think Mark was getting a little too excited towards the end and went a tad too fast. But by then, I had the choreography and met him either at downward dog or chair pose.
I think it is important to stay mindful and calm in your inhales or exhales no matter how fast he goes and make sure you reach and complete each pose. To rush through and not complete each pose increases risk of injury. To also not allow your body to internalize his flows, also cheats you of a wonderful calming effect. And if that means it takes a few tries to get a handle on this class, then that s ok. Take your time. His flows are worth the patience.

Too preachy. Moved way too fast.

Lovely practice to do when you wake. Stays with you throughout the day. Certainly gets you grounded & free from negativity. Thank you Mark.

Awesome quick yoga cardio workout. I d call it "bring a towel," though .I did it in a warmed room. I always enjoy Mark s spiritual perspective.
By MissTurkey | Friday, March 25, 2022
Like the physical part, but am not into the spiritual part, which is overdone

Loved the practice. Good for the body & his wise words creating peace in the mind. Thank you Mark

excellent high energy class!

This class is set at a full flow pace that is intensive. I have been looking for a class at this intensity for a while. Thank you!
By healthymama | Thursday, September 23, 2021
Did not like this practice at all. The teacher wasn t my cup of tea and it is more like a cardio workout. I barely had time to move from 1 position to the next because he was moving through so fast. Because of this I am sure my form was sloppy and I found myself more irritated then calm and energized like yoga usually makes me. I honestly ended up turning it off toward the end because I was pretty irritated with it. I don t mind quicker yoga flows, but when you are rushed through so fast you don t even have time to get in a position it isn t a good practice. It even looked liek the models were struggling to keep up. Definitely wouldn t recommend.

Thank you Mark for another awesome class! Energy was definitely flowing! Thank you also for taking your time to give some background on how/why yoga poses are connected :)

An hours worth of yoga in 20 minutes. Fast and intense. Mark is a pro at getting the most out of you.

A little too fast for me!

This was a really great class for feeling very warmed up and energized. I really enjoyed it and then proceeded to do another of Mark s classes.

This class is a new favorite. I m not usually interested in much more than the physical aspect of my yoga practise - which I ve had - on and off - for three decades. But Marc touched on something. Maybe the speed of the asanas let me get out of my own way. Even though I found this extremely challenging -- maybe BECAUSE I found it extremely challenging - I also found it exhilarating. A quick, intense session that leaves you feeling energized, exercised, and yet somehow calm.

I like your explanation of Surya Namaskar..a beautiful devotion to the sun s rise everyday. and in gratitude...all-ways. I love the practice, its a great way to start your day!
By Cat | Tuesday, November 24, 2020
Great vigorous warming vinyasa. Pretty simple overall but nice repetition to let go. I didn t care for the Hinduism background and ended up skipping the first five minutes; don t mind it but it s not why I do yoga. It s not difficult if you re in reasonably good shape but I did sweat a bit. Would be a great warm up for a longer work out!
By Kati | Sunday, October 25, 2020
WOW been looking for this pace and series for a while. Thanks!
By Jenn H | Thursday, September 17, 2020
Great fast paced, heat building class that had me panting at times. Lots of chaturangas to build heat and, as Mark informs throughout the video, devotion to Surya the Sun God. Just when I thought "how many more rounds?" Or "I don t know about this!" Mark was there with encouraging words to let the resistance go and keep flowing.

A great 30-minute yoga session, fast paced and aerobic yet soft and flowing. (I also think I m in love with the gothic church studio setting 3 )
By Christina | Monday, August 31, 2020
Woo boy, I had to sit out one of the last rounds (child s pose felt so good). This was QUITE the quickly paced workout. I worked up a big sweat in just 30 minutes time. Excellent flow and I liked the breakdown of what surya namaskar really is. Excellent flow, excellent devotion, VERY QUICK PACE.
By M Fol | Tuesday, July 7, 2020
Great class. Great playlist. My only critique would be that the pace is a bit too quick. I found it difficult to pace my breathing with the speed of the transitions. I will try this one again though. :)

Easy Cardio !
Great sweat!
By minibee | Tuesday, June 9, 2020
Not the class for me - way too fast. I like the instructor but it s all Quickquickquick. I can t get a stretch when I m racing.
By Lavinia | Thursday, May 28, 2020
Thank you Mark for this Surya flow, I feel the heat of devotion - I will incorporate this class into my practice -
By elevatedfitness | Tuesday, April 7, 2020
I discovered this class almost 2y ago and I find myself returning to it again and again. Wonderfully energizing flow; lots of chaturangas as other reviewers stated, as well as minimal breath cueing. Move with your breath and modify straight to down dog if necessary.
This continues to be a great way to start my day!
By Chelsie6236 | Monday, March 2, 2020
Still dripping! Great flow, fantastic cues!
By mpstueve | Monday, December 30, 2019
Really great warmup. I m fully sweating after those sun salutations. I liked the encouragement to close your eyes and trust your body to move.
By darrensky | Tuesday, December 17, 2019
This was my first Mark class and I didn t budget my time well and I only had 30 minutes. I was worried I wouldn t get a good work out from the slower start but it was the perfect spiritual mix of a slow sun rise and the intense energy that comes after. I loved the pace and he has a very calming voice and was a great coach

This class has a great intention
But i found it too Quick for me this morning (it s fall hère now) Will come back to it on Spring when we need to Shake things around

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By FrancesC | Tuesday, June 25, 2019
This is a very vigorous class and I would like to work up to being able to do the whole sequence. I wish he gave more breath guidance - I had a hard time finding the right inhale/exhale rhythm to match the pace.
I definitely agree with the commenter who says that one needs to plan extra time to cool down after this class.

Fast but with flow and repetition so you can get into it. One I ll come
Back to when I want to kick start my energy.

WAY too fast for me! ! But I wanted to stay with it so I figured out ways to modify which kind of made it fun and interesting. Definitely gets your heart rate up!

The more I do this class, the more I enjoy it. I love the rhythm and it has helped me improve my breath practice.

What a great class!!
I have been doing this class every day for two weeks and its improved my overall quality of life - I feel more energy, clarity, and focus throughout my day. I m extremely grateful to have found this class on Yoga Download.
By Goddess Chloe | Monday, February 11, 2019
I really like this video for the sun salutations practice, although like another reviewer I saw, I am not quite able to do them all, and had to often rest in child s pose. Also, while the video is great for what it is (just sun salutations), it has no sitting poses, and no shavasana at the end. For anyone also looking for either or both of those, keep in mind that in this case you ll need to reserve more than 30 minutes of time.
By giada_c | Thursday, January 17, 2019
great class and flow, it makes you sweat. My only challenge were too many chaturanga, as I m not so strong yet, after a while they becomes hard on my wrist and shoulders, so I skip them and went directly fo down dog. Thank you!
By Jo | Thursday, January 17, 2019
Did as part of YDL 30 day 30 minute yoga challenge, had done before but never reviewed publicly. Very fast moving, excellent guidance, liked doing some of it w my eyes closed.

Great fast pace flow!
By YogaLo | Thursday, July 12, 2018
I love Mark s classes. I also love doing the playlist with the class. The flow is rigorous. The message is spot on. You will sweat it out- which I absolutely love. Remember, you re at home (and even if you were at a yoga studio), you don t have to do every single chaturanga. You could do a round of cat/cow or knees-chest-chin if your shoulders are feeling week or prone to injury. It s your practice, no one will know or care if you skip a chaturanga or take child s pose or slow down a bit. Besides it s not about that anyway. It s about staying present and with the rhythm of your breath. Do what you need to do and enjoy this amazing class!

WOW you did it again, Mark. Fabulous intensity and devotion in 30 minutes! I m still sweating :-) Great flow

I LOVE ALL Marks classes 3!! :)

Brilliant, loved that. Made me want to do it again but slower so I can make sure my alignment is right and them get quicker over time. This is great thank you for simplifying it really Mark. Thanks.

This is one of my absolute favorite short classes. First of all, no one makes my day quite like Mark. Second, this is beyond vigorous. It s hands down the best way to start your day.
By Lisa | Sunday, March 18, 2018
Enjoyed the class but a bit quick for me to ensure alignment. Ended up a little behind.
By Megan Hallinan | Sunday, March 18, 2018
Definitely the hardest 30 minute practice I have done yet. Great workout!
By katie | Friday, March 16, 2018
Loved this flow! It s nice to experience a true moving meditation. The movement is the meditation. These types of vinyasa practices are harder and harder to come by now that Yoga has been a bit co-opted by fitness. A really beautiful and energetic practice. I did modify often and go straight from plank to down dog. I also needed about 10 minutes to stretch after the video concluded.
By Lisa | Sunday, February 4, 2018
I love Mark s classes and messages but this class was not one for me. I understand the message of devotion and repetition to make the Sun Salutation flows (and variations) a moving meditation and to build heat in the body. However, I was very concerned about the number of chaturangas that were performed. In just 30 minutes, perhaps over 60 chaturangas/updog/downdog vinyasas were done, which is a lot. From a teacher s perspective, the flow was too fast with so many chaturangas (which requires proper form and strength), and repetitive stress on the shoulder and wrist joints will only create injuries. I m not saying that teachers shouldn t put so many vinyasas in a class, but there should be a decent amount of time/rest between the vinyasas to create a safe flow. Also, there wasn t a cool down section to stretch those shoulders out, especially after working them so much, which would only lead to more injuries.

Great class for a quick burst of energy and a powerful practice. Definitely a perfect to start off the day, or help keep you moving through it.
I prefer to move more slowly through the flow to utilize my full breath, I slowed down to the pace that made sense for me. But liked the continuous flow to the class.
By Alicia | Monday, January 29, 2018
I thought teaching of the Surya Namaskar to be wonderful! it helped me connect more with my practice. The flow was enjoyable and had a nice peppery pace. This makes for a great start to the day!
By Susan | Friday, January 26, 2018
WOW!! I ll be doing this one again! Thank you so much, Mark!

Awesome!
By Kklimczak | Monday, January 22, 2018
Loved this class! Mark s message and the flows were right on point with what I needed. I found going fast dizzying for my body and ended up slowing down and doing less of each round. Would absolutely love if Mark would do more classes like this as a slower pace. Thanks for continuing to inspire me, Mark!

I did this class for the first time during the 21 day challenge and have done it every other morning since. I really found myself in a flow. In fact, this morning I let my mind wander to something else for one second and fell over (laughing, of course). I am inclined to start every day with this class. I would love a longer version as well, perhaps even the full 108... Mark is one of my absolute favorite instructors on this site. Every class harmonizes mind, body and soul. Thank you for doing what you do.
By scopestuff2 | Sunday, January 21, 2018
Excellent instruction and nice sequential layering of complexity to the flow. The fast pace surprised me but seems quite natural. Now to figure out proper breathing - that will take some practice. Another 25 rounds of each :)
Thank you for the thoughtful intro and guidance.

Amazing how this 30 minutes gets you flowing and your heart rate up. Loved it!

Wow! I loved this class!! It was pure flow and it felt great!
By Geri | Friday, January 19, 2018
WOW! I m warm and energised and the sun has started to shine through the clouds! Great fast-paced sun salutation repetitions with add-ons each time round. Loved it. Started to play the recommended playlist but wanted to hear Mark clearly. Will be doing this again using the playlist.
By EmmaS | Thursday, January 18, 2018
Surprisingly sweaty class! I thought it would be fairly easy, "just some sun salutations", but it turned out to be both tougher and more profound than I had expected. Especially before breakfast. But I really liked the approach and I think I will follow Mark s advice and add more salutations, sorry, devotions, over time. And I love the idea of practicing with eyes closed and strive for trance.
By nikki | Thursday, January 18, 2018
appreciated the teaching in this one as well as the class. Its a very fast-paced sequence but I was able to stick with it if i skipped the chaturangas. Challenge yourself to finish sequences without pauses and you will get the most out of this .... And here is where I thank Mark and gently beg him for another long-form Advanced Beginner classes :)
