Sometimes you need to work before you can relax, so standing stretches can sometimes be just the right thing. You re always using a little bit of your strength to maintain balance and support your body weight, meanwhile other muscle groups can get a chance to rest. I did this practice right before bed, and I felt it was the perfect blend of strength and stillness. I feel like I m in the right frame of mind and body to go to sleep!

Instead of going for another cup of coffee or an afternoon snack, try this instead. Nice, simple, easy stretch to get the blood flowing for a couple more hours.

Definitely good for work breaks, but I also found it handy after a long absence from yoga with low motivation. It s not too hard to agree to 10 minutes of stretching, and none of the poses hold so long that you want to give up.

This is a perfect session for my small cubical space at work. This stretch session is fantastic before or after a long day when a full practice is not in the cards. After an arduous day of traveling and lugging suitcases this class was exactly what I needed today. It s also great to do "stand up and stretch" before one of the cardio or strength building yoga classes on this website if you need a bit more of a warm up than some of those sessions offer.
