Yule Ritual

Natalie Maisel

Winter Solstice is the longest night of the year, after which the daylight hours begin to grow longer. This time is known as the birth of light. The Anglo-Saxon word for this time is “Yule”. Yule in ancient Celtic terms means “wheel”. This was celebrated as the day that the chief Druid cut the sacred mistletoe from the Oak. Huge bonfires were lit with Yule logs to welcome the return of the Sun. Yule is a time to leave old regrets behind as the light makes its way back to the Earth and back to you, as well. The old year has completed its cycle, just as some of our habits have completed their cycles. This is a time to shed what no longer is useful in our lives.

This ritual will include a guided meditation to a cozy winter cottage to reflect on the end of the year and what you would like to release and transform, as well as a candle-lighting ceremony to welcome the return of the sun and the igniting of your own inner fire and strength.

Lammas Ritual

Natalie Maisel

Lammas or Lughnassad, Aug. 1 or 2nd, marks the time of the first harvest festival and the death of the Celtic Sun God Lugh – the many skilled one. Summer in the northern hemisphere is at it’s height and autumn beckons in the near future. The first corn is harvested to become the grain and bread for the cold months of winter and the people gave great thanks and trusted that the Great Goddess would provide for an abundant harvest to supply them through the winter season.

This ritual will included a guided meditation to the ancient and sacred hill of Tara in Ireland and the opportunity to recognize and celebrate your many skills and talents -- all of those things that make you uniquely YOU! You will also enjoy the grains of the first harvest with a bread baking and/or eating ritual.

Mabon Ritual

Natalie Maisel

Mabon, Sept. 21 – is the time of the Fall Equinox. This time holds the night and day in perfect balance, as the wheel turns to the dark half of the year. We honor the aging of the Great Goddess as she passes to the Crone Stage, and her consort, the God, prepares for death and re-birth. At this time we give thanks as we yield our harvests and turn inward for the cold months. This is an auspicious time to finish old business and take time slowing down from the business of the past season. Allow yourself time to pause and reflect on your life as you celebrate Mabon.

This ritual will include a guided meditation to meet an ancient Grandmother tree of wisdom and receive insight. You will also enjoy an apple eating ceremony and libations to the Great Wise Mother.

Samhain Ritual

Natalie Maisel

Samhain is a Celtic word meaning, “summer’s end." Its origin dates back to Pagan times when the passing of the dead was greatly revered. Huge bonfires were lit to honor the birth of the winter season. Samhain was considered the night of death and was a time to acknowledge those who died during the year. Pagans called this the Festival of the Dead. People celebrated their loved one’s passing and still believed that they aided them from the Otherworld. Samhain is a powerful time to deal with the issue of death, which many find difficult. During Samhain, the veil between the worlds is thin and the spirits of the dead may rejoin their loved ones.

This ritual will include a guided meditation into a sacred, autumn grove to reflect on the gifts and memories of a dearly departed loved one, and a chance to meet them again in the spirit realm. You will be invited to leave food and drink for them, as was customary in ancient times.

Summer Solstice Ritual

Natalie Maisel

Now is the time to practice Midsummer Magick! Summer Solstice, known as midsummer, or Litha, is the longest day of the year usually occurring on June 21 or 22. The sun has reached its peak and is in full, brilliant, glory before making its slow descent into darkness. This is a joyous time and a time to purify and remove blocks and obstacles in your life. The Goddess is heavily pregnant. The veil between the worlds is thin at this time, creating a portal to an otherworldly realm where magick and fairies abound. This is an excellent time for divination.

This ritual will include a guided meditation that magically transports you to Stonehenge on the plain of Salisbury in England, and creating a small, personal bonfire to invoke the qualities of the sun and purify the mind, body and emotions.
