Ashtanga Vinyasa is one of the classic forms of asana practice that brought yoga to America. It's still thriving today, thanks to the tireless work of its students and lineage-holders. This class will move you through a modified form of Ashtanga's Primary Series (the first sequence students begin to learn), which features Sun Salutations, followed by a rigorous set of standing and balancing poses and many deep, unusual postures. Note to experienced Ashtangis: this class modifies several of the most extreme moments of Primary Series, and does not include headstand, shoulderstand, or the Kurmasana section of the series. If you have learned these poses in-person from a skilled instructor, feel free to add them into your practice!

I ve been holding off doing a longer class for a while thinking I wouldn t be able to cope (after an injury) but it turns out that the longer ones create less stress on my body and this was no exception. I did ashtanga for years so it was nice to have a re-introduction to it and the modifications were totally appropriate. The cueing was good and there wasn t any unnecessary chatter. I ll be looking for more classes by this teacher.

What a fantastic class!!! I started my yoga journey with Ashtanga 20+ years ago, then switched into Hatha in the past few years. This class was a fabulous balance between the two, thank you so much!
A fabulous class. This was my first exposure to an ashtanga yoga and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I appreciated the modifications. I will be taking this class over and over, so much to learn. I was confused at the end of class as there was a different screen during shavasana with no music, so I thought we were left on our own to decide when to end,....but Jack came back for a final Namaste. Thank you Jack for introducing me to ashtanga yoga!
Some sequences and postures are too advanced for me but i modified. I love it overall because it covers all the postures i like. Great instructor.

I have always wanted to try Ashtanga. I ve enjoyed Jack s other shorter classes. During the corona outbreak and days of staying at home, I finally had the gift of time needed to try this longer class. It didn t disappoint. Well cued, variations as needed, and the time passed quickly. Thank you Jack!
a good, contemporary ashtanga routine. Challenging and moves at a good pace. The teacher is clearly knowledgeable and gives nice alts both for more advanced and less advanced practitioners. A good, solid workout.
Wow! Ashtanga has some serious poses with lotus. Thanks for breaking it down and giving alternatives. Great cueing and instruction. I feel well stretched and toned after this class. I enjoyed and will do again. Thanks
I m so glad that this class is here and by such a good teacher! I had done ashtanga for years but have moved away from my teacher and missed it. I enjoyed this modified series and am glad it included most of my favourites but left out a few I didn t like (you can tell I m not a purist!). I will be keeping an eye out for more ashtanga classes on here in the future.
Lovely. Good work out. Not too exhausting. I was hesitant to take such a long class, but the time flew by. I appreciated the modifications. Jack’s cues are spot on. I only looked at the screen when prompted to do so. Some music or ocean sounds with savassna for future classes would be nice. I kept peeking, thinking maybe my internet connection died.
