Hot Yoga is a style of yoga that is based on the Bikram Yoga method. It consists of a sequence of 26 yoga postures (or asanas) designed to promote flexibility and build heat in the body to cleanse it and rid it of harmful toxins. This style of yoga is typically performed in a room heated to around 100 degrees Fahrenheit. This is done for several reasons: first, the heat acts to warm the students muscles thus allowing them to get deeper into the poses, second, by warming the muscles and making them more flexible there is less risk for injury, and lastly, the heat promotes sweating which further facilitates the ridding of toxins from the body.
