Ally Hamilton

Ally grew up in New York where she began practicing yoga during her senior year at Columbia University. Since then, she has studied with many gifted teachers including Shiva Rea, Saul David Raye, and Baron Baptiste. In 2001, she began studying and continues to study with Bryan Kest who has most influenced her teaching, and in 2003 she started a six-mornings a week Ashtanga yoga practice with Jorgen Christiannson, who will probably not be satisfied until she is levitating. Ally also practices Vipassana meditation two hours a day. She teaches because her yoga practice has been the greatest gift in her life, and she is passionate about sharing it. She feels a consistent yoga practice enables students to get to know themselves in a profound and life-altering way, that the class, the experience on the mat, is really an opportunity to get acquainted with physical and emotional habits that fuel feelings of self-doubt, of being "stuck", disconnected, alone, and to begin to eradicate these blocks with patience, compassion, sensitivity, and a little humor. Students should be prepared to breathe deeply and sweat profusely.
