Jeff Johnson and Brian Dunning

The collaboration between Christian vocalist, synthesizer player and composer, Jeff Johnson and flute player Brian Dunning of Celtic-New Age ensemble Nightnoise has produced some of the most instrumentally beautiful and poetically rich sounds in recent memory. While they continue to record on their own and with various groups, Johnson and Dunning's work together represents their most fulfilling project. In a review of their 1997 duo album, Music Of Celtic Legends -- The Bard And The Warrior, which combined science fantasy vision and Celtic mythology, Billboard claimed, "while the sub-genre based on fantasy themes continues to grow, no one does it better than this duo." Heartbeat Magazine, described their three album series, Songs From Albion, which served as the soundtrack to Stephen Lawhead's Song Of Albion Trilogy, as "broad, poignant Celtic balladry, ancient rhythmic soundscape, electric settings with rock dynamism and soothing New Age expansiveness". The series was released as three individual albums in 1992, 1993 and 1994. Johnson and Dunning's collaborations have been featured on Johnson's solo albums, The Tale Of Three Trees in 1990, Great Romantics in 1991, Psalmus in 1996 and Prayers Of St. Brendan -- The Journey Home in 1998. ~ Craig Harris, All Music Guide
