Class Description

Many of the asanas in our Yogadownload.com classes have an origin in mythology. Hanumanasana, or splits pose, is named after Hanuman, the monkey god, who took a giant leap across the ocean from the southern tip of India to the island of Sri Lanka. Hence the name!Through these vinyasa sequences the student will open their hamstrings, groins, adductors and abductors, allowing the body to move into the splits pose. A block, bolster or strap is recommended to use while the student explores this pose, knowing that each time this class is practiced a deeper expression of hanumanasna will be found.

One of my favorite Yoga Download classes. I do the 60-minute version. It s very challenging, yet accessible. I will likely never go all the way down in the splits, but this gets me pretty far.

I enjoyed this class. I liked the build up to Hanumanasana and I felt great after the class. The class was challenging enough to get me to sweat just a bit and I really liked the pace.

Pleasantly surprised. This has to be one of my favorite yoga downloads to date. I just finished the 60 minute class and feel more open in the hips than ever. Throughout the week I practice several of the 30 minute hip opening flows. I try to allow time for at least one 60 minute practice a week. I will definitely be returning to this class. The flow was not too fast and allowed for plenty of time to move with the breath. I often feel rushed during vinyasa flows, but not with this one.

I love this class, and have started doing it every week. I have quite tight hamstrings and quads, and more than any other class, this one opens them up. Though I am still several inches from achieving hanumanasana, I don t stress about it at all because of Jackie s excellent instructing. I love Jackie s classes. They are the perfect balance between strength, flexibility, heat and relaxation.

An excellent hip-opening prep for students who are looking to deepen the technique of their practice. And a good workout and stretch for those who arent! Wait till you see how deep you can get into half pigeon at the end of this class, I really noticed the difference!

While I am in no way close to mastering Hanumanasana, this sequence makes it feel like a possibility. The postures are challenging, but move at a comfortable pace and build upon each other nicely. Try this class if you are looking for something different to add to your yoga practice.

What a surprise. Hanumanasana is not a posture I can achieve in its final form so I really thought I d just have a giggle at myself trying it out. The class was wonderful however beautifully timed with progressively deeper openings in each posture sequence and no sense that anything other than right where you were was the best place to be. I ll be revisting this class often and who knows Hanumanasa may even reveal itself and it s secrets one of these days.
